I'm not big in Filipino cuisine, but a Filipino freind of mine, braught me here last friday, and man I wasn't ready to the explosives of tastes in my mouth. A small place, with a restroom for customers, ample free parking, wheelchair friendly in all accounts. Their working hrs are abit different than other places though! They are closed Mondays and Tuesdays, then Wednesdays to Saturdays they open from 11 am to 7 pm, on sundays they open at 11am but closes at 5 pm. I will not explain any favorites or dishes, cone see for yoyrself! Great thank you for the staff. Great thank you for my friend who brought me here! Wally Jo's THUMBS-UP

We went there for some Filipino dishes and they're delicious and reasonably priced. Menu changes daily and varied enough. The attached grocery is a big plus. Worth the drive from Roseville!

This restaurant & mini market is located near Raley's on East Bidwell. Their menu is different every day. They have combo meal in which you can choose the protein that you like. Follow their facebook page to see their daily menu. The service is always friendly and with smile. - Pancit: the noodle was good and well seasoned. It was cooked perfectly and still had firmness - Adobong pusit (Squid): my favorite Filipino dish and it was tasty. The squid was tender and each piece was big. The sauce was a tad too salty for me. - Pork sisig: delicious! They had the perfect balance of meat and fat. The dish was well seasoned. However, I wish that they included more onion pieces. - Pork ribs sinigang: good. The pork ribs meat was super tender. The broth was refreshing and tasty. However, I wish that the broth was a little more sour and the soup had more vegetables. - Chicken inasal: chicken was tender and flavorful. The chicken pieces were quite generous. - Kare kare: good creamy gravy (but I wish the peanut flavor is more prominent). The meat pieces were tender & the vegetable was fresh

Delicious Filipino food. Very tasty barbecue pork skewers. We had this saucy soupy green bean with bittermelon. It was very good. Will go again soon! Glad it’s in the Folsom neighborhood! :)

I came here for the first time today not knowing what the dishes would be. The food was very good. They were very busy. People were ordering things on the side though. I need to figure out how to order sides by themselves. I will come back again and ask when it isn't so busy. I loved the bistek

Located in the heart of Folsom at 705-8 E Bidwell St, Kabayan Filipino Restaurant offers an authentic dive into Filipino cuisine that captivates both the seasoned palate and newcomers alike. This unassuming spot, complete with accessible parking and wheelchair-friendly amenities, invites guests to explore a menu that changes daily, ensuring each visit brings a fresh experience filled with traditional flavors and thoughtful preparation.

The allure of Kabayan lies in its vibrant, well-balanced dishes that celebrate Filipino culinary culture. Noteworthy is their pancit, which strikes the perfect harmony of tender yet firm noodles, seasoned to a finesse that is comforting and bright. The pork sisig stands out as a testament to flavor mastery—a finely seasoned medley of tender meat and fat, though some may wish for a touch more onion to heighten its sharpness.

Seafood lovers will find joy in the adobong pusit, where the squid is tender and plentiful, swimming in a robust sauce that boldly underscores each bite. Equally impressive are the pork ribs sinigang, offering tender meat immersed in a refreshing broth, though a slightly more pronounced sourness and richer vegetable content could elevate it further.

Chicken aficionados will appreciate the chicken inasal, marked by its juicy tenderness and generous portion sizes. The kare-kare here delivers a creamy peanut-based gravy that envelops tender meat and fresh vegetables, though a deeper peanut flavor would enhance its signature character.

Kabayan also surprises with delightful sides like saucy, soupy green beans paired with the distinctive bitterness of bittermelon, creating a balanced and hearty accompaniment. The presence of an attached mini-market adds convenience, allowing visitors to extend their Filipino culinary experience beyond the table.

Staff at Kabayan bring warmth and attentiveness to the table, complementing the rich flavors with genuine hospitality. Despite its modest size and unique hours—closed Mondays and Tuesdays, open from midday to early evening on other days—this gem in the Folsom neighborhood has quickly earned a loyal following. It’s a place where each dish tells a story, inviting diners to savor the vibrant spices, comforting textures, and heartfelt tradition of Filipino cooking. For anyone eager to explore this cuisine’s depth and diversity, Kabayan Filipino Restaurant is well worth the drive and a promising destination for repeated visits.
